In this episode, Arni and Christian talk with Swedish pastor and church leader, Olaf Edinger, about preaching the Bible in a culture that often avoids conflict. They discuss his sermon on spiritual warfare, humility, and following Jesus with courage, even when it’s difficult. What does it look like to stay faithful to Scripture, finding confidence in God instead of seeking people’s approval as a pastor in the Nordics?

Olof Edsinger är uppvuxen inom Evangeliska Fosterlands-Stiftelsen och fungerar sedan 2017 som generalsekreterare för Svenska Evangeliska Alliansen. Han är författare till ett tjugotal böcker, mestadels om Bibeln och det kristna livet och ofta med en apologetisk inriktning. Han är även en flitig opinionsbildare och artikelförfattare, bland annat som ledarskribent i den kristna dagstidningen Världen idag. På danska har han utkommit med böckerna En guide til Romerbrevet (Bibellæser-ringen) och Farlige for fjenden (Udfordringen).

Olof Edsinger was raised within the Evangelical Fatherland Foundation and has served as general secretary of the Swedish Evangelical Alliance since 2017. He is the author of around twenty books, mostly about the Bible and Christian life and often with an apologetic focus. He is also a frequent opinion leader and article writer, including as an editorial writer for the Christian daily newspaper Världen idag. In Danish, he has published the books En guide til Romerbrevet (Bibellæser-ringen) and Farlige for fjenden (Udfordringen).

Arni Zachariassen (BA in theology University of Aberdeen) is a teaching elder in Filadelfia Brethren church in Gøta, Faroe Islands. A member of the TGC Norden council, he also serves on the TGCN conference planning committee. He works as a substance abuse counsellor. Arni is married to Malan and father of three.

Christian Roth (BA Moody Bible Institute, Cert in Biblical Counseling Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, completing an MA in Theology and Mission via Fjellhaug International Seminary in Oslo) is a Swede who has spent many years in the USA. He now pastors New Song Kirken in Copenhagen and serves as the president of TGC Norden. He is husband to Stephanie and father of four.

Finnish men don’t really talk about crying, though it seems to come more naturally for women. Crying is associated with fear and shame, and so I am afraid and embarrassed to say I cry often. However, I have learned how powerful crying is—in a good way. Through crying, the Lord has taught me about life and, ultimately, about himself as the Giver of Life. Crying may not be easy for everyone, but it is important for everyone.
