Sweden is in urgent need of new churches. When I write “new,” I mean local churches that are not connected to the established Free Church denominations (Evangelical Free Church, Ecumenia Church, Pentecostal Movement, etc.) There is some good to be found in these established denominations—of course there is. However, there are also profound systemic failures that will necessarily accompany any new church planting that they initiate. Julen får sin mening i påsken. Inkarnationen pekar på försoningen; krubban på korset. Faktum är att den enda anledningen till att vi kan sjunga om den stilla natt då Guds Son tog sitt första andetag på jorden är att Gud, från evighet, hade förutbestämt den mörka dag då hans Son skulle överlämna sin ande, upphöjd från jorden. Med andra ord: Jesus föddes för att dö.

the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem finds its true meaning in the death of Jesus at Golgotha. Christmas finds its purpose in Easter. The incarnation points toward the atonement; the manger toward the cross. In fact, the only reason we can sing of that silent night when God’s Son took his first breath on earth is that God, from eternity, had foreordained the dark day when that same Son would surrender his spirit, lifted up from the earth...In other words: Jesus was born to die.
